I have been recruiting executives since 1981, beginning with owning and operating the largest franchise of a national recruitment firm. In 1993, I founded The Ward Group in response to a growing client demand for dedicated functional expertise in Marketing and Communications and overall executive leadership. The Ward Group currently has offices in the Boston and New York area with clients around the country.
Acknowledging that the search business is part art and part science, I have assembled a team that combines functional depth, strong analytical skills, great instincts, and a client-centric mentality. As a search firm founded and run by a marketer, me and my team bring practical experience to our profession. This allows us to quickly establish credibility with clients and candidates and attract outstanding talent in a timely fashion. The result has been that The Ward Group has developed numerous long lasting client relationships across a variety of industries.
I have conducted successful searches in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. Building on my philosophy of designing a retention-focused search firm, I treat each engagement as unique where I will assess candidates not only on the basis of credentials, but with significant emphasis on cultural fit with clients. By taking the time to understand clients' long term goals and unique cultures, I am often consulted to build teams, incorporating a higher level of sensitivity and analysis than merely completing assignments.
Prior to founding the firm in 1993, I was Managing Partner and President of Roth Young/Boston, a national recruitment firm, for 12 years. I have held a variety of marketing management positions in the consumer goods and services fields and as a leading executive search professional.
I have an MBA in Marketing from Boston College and a BA from Stonehill College. I am married to Anne and have three children, Tim, Steven and Mercedes.
