Working in advertising in the 1980's, I often found myself having conversations with colleagues about our careers, about how we could maximize our talents or deal with the inevitable ups and downs of the ad business. So when Jim and I sat down to talk about my career, it became clear that joining him in the search business could make a lot of sense. Leveraging my industry experience and personal interests to help build a relationship-based search firm seemed like a very good idea. Now, almost twenty years later having been fortunate enough to enjoy a lot of success, I think it was a pretty good call!
I really believe we have built a firm which reflects who we are as individuals - personable, committed, consultative, smart, knowledgeable and caring. And I hope and believe that both clients and candidates benefit from that.
I have led engagements across a broad array of industries, from financial services and consumer goods to professional services and healthcare and take particular satisfaction working with clients who hope to attract leaders brought in to provide new vision and direction.
Prior to helping start The Ward Group in 1993, I was Director of the Marketing Practice at Roth Young/Boston and held a variety of account management positions in advertising agencies in New York and Boston. I made my way into the advertising business after graduating from the University of Vermont, and spending my first few years working in the research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
When not working, my two children - Georgia (14) and Owen (11) - ensure that I am generally pretty booked up with school-related activities, or coaching sports, or watching sports, or driving them somewhere...and wouldn't want it any other way.
